How is the making and the fabrication of clothing and fashion accessories organized? How can the management of the productive phases enhance human abilities and relationships? In this course, students are introduced to the design development and production processes in the fashion industry at large. They explore materials, discover the sourcing networks, and understand the fabrication operations in relation with design and innovation in both local and global contexts. Students are introduced to the basic knowledge of materials and processes commonly used by fashion, accessory and product designers and manufacturers at various scales of production. The course addresses contemporary realities that include a reflection on the issues of labor, sustainability and technological change.
