Begins where Theory 2B left off. This course covers some advanced chromatic techniques, including analyzing and composing music in a variety of modern styles. Some topics covered include advanced mode mixture, interval cycles and symmetrical relations, nonfunctional harmony, bitonality and “slash” chords, non-tertian harmony, octatonic structures, and post-tonal techniques including twelve-tone processes.
