This class will explore the porous fields of writing, performance art and music and uncover ways in which artists can deepen their practice through collaboration and cross-genre investigation. In-class listening will be an integral part of the class, as well as discussions on the interplay between body text and sound. Examples of topics include musical ekphrasis; writing the fugue; the poetics of analog synth music; indigenous avant-garde sound making and poetics; and contemporary sound art. This class is designed for performers, musicians and writers of all genres, as well as artists interested in hybrid projects and the embodiment of music through language.
