Artists Making Books
Fall 2025
Taught By: Rose Rejouis
Section: AX
Course Reference Number: 18121
Credits: 4
This course is grounded in the fact that women, queer folks, working class people, as well as descendants of enslaved people were denied access to formal education until recently. As a result, they have had to create their own paths, their own home-made objects, storytelling circles, and poetics. Both Virginia Woolf and Audre Lorde use this history in conceptualizing their own poetics. This course will use their theories to reconnect with practices grounded in home-made poetics, such as oral storytelling and artist books.
