This course explores the emerging field of Religion and Ecology, one of the fastest growing areas in the study of religion, asking questions such as: How do various religious traditions - from the missionary "world religions" to indigenous religions - understand nature and our relationship to it? How has religious consciousness shaped and been shaped by environmental processes and crises? What resources do spiritual traditions offer for making sense of the "Anthropocene" and its demands on us? Are there religious lessons to be learned from our fellow terrestrials, animal and plant?
