Eugene Lang College Lib Arts: The Arts
Course Reference Number: 7382
Credits: 4
The re-articulation of aesthetic praxis in the Black Arts Movement (BAM) of the 1960s has had a profound impact on art, theater, and performance today. This course discusses the work of the Black Arts Repertory Theater/School as well as the writings and plays of BAM writers and artists, most notably Amiri Baraka. Through these works, we will form our own concept of the "revolutionary" or "radical" and see how it applies to the work of that theater and other schools still running today. This course fulfills the dramatic literature requirement for Theater majors and minors.
