An introductory course in Amharic language and culture designed for students with little or no previous knowledge. While the emphasis is on conversation, the course also focuses on listening, reading, and writing skills, including mastery of the Fidel writing system. Supplemental materials introduce basic vocabulary and grammatical principles needed to communicate in the classroom. Discussion of Amharic culture is incorporated into most topics.
