Chinese Intro 1 is designed for students with no prior exposure to Chinese language. The goal of this course is to build up vocabulary and sentence patterns in communicative contexts with a solid foundation in pronunciation. Students will develop their ability to carry out simple conversations in Chinese on a range of topics. Reading and writing (using simplified characters) will be introduced in conjunction with speaking and listening skills.
