ESL 1800 is an advanced ESL course will help you gain the skills needed to succeed in an academic English-language environment. We will seek to improve your language skills through interaction with readings, advertisements, film, and other visual and written texts designed for native speakers of English. Through doing so, we will aim to improve your abilities in expressing yourselves adequately and appropriately in both academic and informal situations. (If you have space- you can add this part in the description-You will learn skills in editing, paragraph and essay development, writing for specific audiences, developing vocabulary, using and documenting outside research, and writing cohesively (joining sentences, paragraphs, and ideas). Along the way, we will also address many points of grammar and speaking that will be relevant to your academic and social use of English. We will typically have one major grammar and/or writing focus each week.)
