In order to pursue an internship for credit, a student must have completed the first semester/ 12 credits in the Masters Program. Students who wish to acquire additional professional and practical experience in the field may choose to intern. In order to arrange for an internship, a student must have completed 12 credits in the Masters Program. The approval of any internship comes through the Program Director. To receive 3-credits for an internship, the student is required to work eight hours per week or 120 hours total during the semester. Before registering for or beginning an internship, the student must submit the following materials for review to the Program Director: 1) internship offer 2) statement of interest and 3) the Contract for Internship, which includes a description of the internship and the signature of the on-site internship supervisor. In addition, the student will be required to keep a reflective journal throughout the internship and submit to the Program Director a 8-10 page summary paper discussing the activities and outcome of their internship at the end of the semester. In consultation with the internship supervisor, the Program Director will award a grade based on performance and written work. Note: Students can earn 3 credits through an approved internship as part of the MA Fashion Studies curriculum; an approved 3-credit internship qualifies as a general elective.
