In this course we will learn about the expansive and evolving landscape of fashion publishing. We will examine key figures, critical issues, the ethics and integrity of journalism, and the different journalistic formats found in contemporary fashion publishing. Using New York City as our resource and backdrop, we will learn how to conduct research and how it is applied to develop journalism that varies in approach, format, and audience. We will also examine the necessary writing skills of critical analysis, iteration, editing, and final revision. This is an intensive writing course and students are expected to possess strong language and written skills, and a familiarity with fashion journalism in both traditional and online formats. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have created a portfolio that contains several articles and other forms of fashion journalism. Open to: All university undergraduate degree students.
