Taught By: Sarah Thorn
Section: B

Course Reference Number: 5312

This course is designed to push students beyond the basics of pattern cutting and encourage the development of their own methodologies. By beginning with non-garment based work, the students can explore fashion concepts and design practice outside the constraints of collection building. Emphasis will be given to understanding how to incorporate the foundations of pattern making with experimental techniques to reach places that could only be found through exploratory processes. The students will be learning to answer construction questions that arise when making garments that are not based on traditional techniques.

Open to all University undergraduate degree students. Pre-requisite(s): PUFD 2240 Creative Technical Studio 1 or PAFS 1080 Construction 1 Draping and PAFS 1090 Construction 1 Sewing and PAFS 1020 Construction 1 Patternmaking.
