Senior Thesis Seminar

Schools of Public Engagement: Global Studies

Senior Thesis Seminar
Spring 2022
Taught By: Jonathan Bach
Section: B

Course Reference Number: 10880

Credits: 1 TO 4

The main goal of this course is to guide students in the process of writing their thesis (or alternative creative project) required for the major in Global Studies. The course builds on the project that was developed in the Fall semester. The senior work is a major independent project that requires the best application of students’ analytical, writing, research skills and/or creative practice. We will work together to ensure that your project fulfills these requirements and that throughout the process of doing your research, writing and artistic work you have a support network that includes the instructor and your peers, in addition to your thesis advisor. This course will help you plan the writing of your thesis and/or development of your creative practice, it will provide strategies and feedback to help fluid your project through completion, and allow you to learn from your colleagues. Much like the first part of the course taught in the Fall, this second part is heavily interactive—we will work primarily with materials provided by you, the students, using the same model of presentations and peer review. By the end of the semester, students will write their thesis and/or develop their creative project and be able to present their work both orally and in writing.
