The underlying premise of the course is that the difficulty in realizing a score at the piano lies not solely in dealing with the transposing instruments, but also in transforming the score into something `pianistic,' that is, turning figures which are idiomatic for the orchestra into those which are idiomatic for the piano while retaining the characteristic sound of the score. Students should have experience dealing with tenor, alto, and soprano clefs as well as some familiarity with mezzo-soprano and baritone. Designed for intermediate to advanced pianists. .
