This course provides an investigation into sound art. We will be exploring a rich critical environment in which to rethink the performative potential of sound through its dynamic interaction with technology and, importantly, the bodies and spaces it activates. Active engagement with core texts and basic principles of acoustics provide a review of sound as a media art, its effect on human physiology and its influence on spatial perception. Pre-requisites: This course requires a basic level of experience with sound editing. Students will be using Audacity (open source) and/or Adobe Audition CC specifically.
