This course provides an investigation into the field of computer programming to achieve interactive/generative installations and live performance. As a tool, we will mostly use Pure Data that allows real-time control and interaction for sound and multimedia works; this includes synthesis, sampling, live input, effects, analysis, feature extraction/tracking, mixing, networking, 3D, dynamic text and much more. Technical outcomes are complemented by active engagement with core texts and seminar content that provide a review of aesthetics and ethics in data use and performance as well as the implications for subjects (people) as performers and/or audience. pre-requisites: This course requires an intermediate level of technology experience.
