This course is intended for students of fields other than fashion design who are interested in discovering the main creative and technical aspects of the fashion design process at an introductory level. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of the design process, from visual research to illustration, textile manipulation, pattern making and preliminary prototyping. The personal projects produced in this studio-based course lead to the design and development of a final garment and portfolio that encompasses the various fundamentals acquired throughout the semester. Open to: all undergraduate majors except Fashion Design majors. Also open to graduate students as auditors.
