"In this studio-based course, students explore the conceptual, creative and technical connections between the fields of textile, fashion and contemporary art in their various expressions. They develop a hybridized research, at the intersection of craft and technology, and acquire experimental practice based on theoretical and technical knowledge from various art fields around fibers, fabrics and other soft materials. The projects will focus on the manipulation of threads and textiles to produce new materialities in space that span from objects, surface treatments, sculptures, wall hangings and installations and other immaterial or performative outcomes. Open to: All BFA undergraduate degree students (Design Studio 1 and 2, or Core Studio 1 and 2); other students with permission of BFA Fashion Design program."
