In this introductory studio course students will receive an overview of the fundamentals of accessory design, focusing on key contemporary methods, materials, and processes in the field of jewelry design. Students will build on their personal design philosophy and artistic research, applied through design research methods and tools used in realizing studio projects. They will adapt their design process and its outcomes to a specific social and cultural context. Iterative prototyping and user testing will further drive the design process. Students will complete the course with one or two physical prototypes as well as portfolio-quality 2D record of process and design outcomes.
