Editorial Fashion and Photography is a course devoted to creating, capturing and narrating fashion images. This course will introduce students to the creation of fashion editorials through the use, application and execution of photography and styling techniques. The course looks at the role of the fashion photographer, how they must understand the subject and all elements including location, makeup, composition and framing to enhance the image. This course explore the notion of narrative and storytelling through fashion photography. The course experiments with capturing the still and the moving image and the creation of fashion editorials. Students will apply creative narratives and the technical skills they are taught to negotiate and plan in detail the implementation of a magazine-style editorial shoot. The students will look at the role editorials play in the world of fashion and how they forms a source of fashion inspiration and forecasting. At the end of the course, students will present a portfolio that showcases and expresses their individual approach as a fashion photography and stylist through a number of fashion editorials.
