"This course, taught in French, will introduce students to contemporary art and design as they are presented within the Parisian cultural landscape. The course will thus include numerous field-trips to Parisian and suburban museums, galleries, and cultural venues so as to allow students to discover and understand both the specificities of Paris as place and its integration in the global world of art and design. Specific attention will be given to art and design projects or exhibitions that challenge the boundaries between disciplines and/or address important contemporary issues such as gender, race and social inequalities. A specific focus will be placed on developing analytical and writing skills to engage with each institution, exhibition format and art or design form. Assignments and projects can be completed in English (APHT) or in French (APFR). French assignment option: APFR 3500 English assignment option: APHT 4104 Students are required to complete a minimum of 4 semesters of French, including one advanced French course such as Parlons français!, Les Mystères de Paris or equivalent. Open to: Advanced-Intermediate to Advanced French speakers."
