Speaking of Opera

Fall 2022

Taught By: Neal Goren

Section: A

CRN: 15372

Credits: 2

In today’s world, all musicians must learn to become effective spokespersons for their art, whether working for oneself or for an organization. This class will focus on increasing one’s clarity and skill in thinking, writing, and speaking about one’s art; this will be achieved through research, project-based work involving in-class presentations, and by authoring sample articles for websites, program notes, and press releases. The jumping-off point through which these skills will be honed will be repertoire chosen with input from the students. This course satisfies the Seminar requirement for Mannes MM students.
