The Piano Etude remains one of the most popular musical genres in keyboard literature. This performance based online course will familiarize students with significant virtuosic works from Scarlatti Sonatas to the Etudes of Philip Glass. Through coaching and discussions, the course will explore various practice methods and preparation processes, as well as investigating their relevant historical backgrounds. An individually guided repertoire selection and independent practice schedule will be available to allow greater flexibility for student learning. Performances will be presented through either pre-recorded videos or live playing during zoom sessions. Existing videos or works-in-progress can also be submitted towards course requirements.
