Tired of grappling with that seven over two? This class addresses all aspects of new music performance practice. We will delve into the performance problems of new music from the latter part of the 20th century up to the present. We will study problems of complex rhythms, metric modulations, extended techniques, playing with electronics (live and fixed media), and unusual notations by looking at musical examples from over 30 composers of all genres. Informal in-class performances. Open to all instruments.
