Piano Perf+ Lit: Early& Contemp
Spring 2021
Taught By: Blair McMillen
Section: A
CRN: 9628
Credits: 2
With the exception of JS Bach, keyboard music from 1750-1920 still makes up the overwhelming majority of the repertoire that pianists study and perform. This performance/discussion class will “leapfrog” the standard piano warhorses from the Classical and Romantic periods, and will focus on piano music both very old and very new. There will be concert breakout rooms according to repertoire, discussions about performance practice, home video and audio production seminars, and in-class performances. Students will present a final project on a Baroque or contemporary composer of their choice.
