This course covers the history of singing from the invention of the phonograph to the present day. Lectures are liberally illustrated by rare recordings, photos, and video tape. A research paper is required and other special projects will be optional. Open to graduate students and juniors and seniors by permission This course fulfills the requirement for Graduate Seminar for MM students
