In this seminar we will study the final phase of Foucault’s career. After an initial examination of some of the main themes and upshots of Discipline and Punish (Surveiller et punir, 1975), we will use the four volumes of the History of Sexuality (1976-2018) as a guiding thread and entry point into the genealogical critique of subjectivity conducted by Foucault during the final years of his life.
