How does the emergence of new technologies transform how we think about what it is to be human? This course explores the dialectical nature of the relationship between technology and our self-understanding, how new technologies provide us with new models for how our minds do, or do not, work. Figures discussed will include Descartes, La Mettrie, Kant, Lovelace, Canguilhem, Chomsky, Haugeland, and Buckner.
