Under the auspices of the New School Counseling Center and in collaboration with the International Student Services (ISS) office, this practicum will provide students with advanced training in working with culturally diverse populations. The primary client population will be international students at the New School, with the additional possibility of training and exposure to LGBTQ students and students of color. Students will conduct client screenings, weekly group therapy sessions (with the possibility of additional individual therapy cases), and attend weekly class meetings during which group supervision, didadic presentations, and discussions of relevant readings will take place.Students who are interested in college counseling settings, young adults, community outreach, culturally diverse populations and/or have experiences living/working abroad are especially encouraged to enroll.
