This course emphasizes internalization of the chromatic scale in solfeggio and mastery of eighth note rhythmic groups. Blues related scales and chords as well as basic diatonic seventh chord types, with or without approach tones, serve as the structures for improvisation. Students apply these concepts to improvising on basic Blues songs, Rhythm Changes songs and Turnarounds.
