Textual Strategies in Performance
Eugene Lang College Lib Arts: The Arts
CRN: 14377
Credits: 3 TO 4
In this hybrid studio-seminar, students will consider a range of performances that explore the relationship between text and movement on stage. Students also will experiment with making their own small-scale performance works. Improvisational, choreographic and vocal exercises will support a collaborative studio practice that will be complemented by readings, screenings and writing assignments. This course will focus on work that resists categories and embraces the in-between ambiguities of experience. Note: This course is offered for variable credit: Students who elect to also create choreographic research projects for performance in the Lang Dance Fall Production, and who meet the prerequisite of Intro to Choreographic Research, should register for 4 credits/MWF classes; students who do not elect to also create choreographic research projects should register for 3 credits/MW classes only. *This LDAN course can be used to fulfill an Arts program LINA (InterArts) requirement.
