Dance Without Walls

Spring 2020

Taught By: Lori Love

Section: A

CRN: 7390

Credits: 2 OR 3

This hybrid studio-seminar course will function as a movement-based, multimedia, living art workshop, creating space where “we the people” can study ways to perform meaningfully, powerfully and truthfully. Improvisation at the intersections of dance, nature, music, visual arts, and urban structures will be complemented with required reading and writing assignments, discussion, drawing, and building small ecological sculptures. A goal is to manifest new ideas about ourselves from which communal and global solidarity can radiate. The course is open to students/artists (of all mediums) across the university, including any warrior students that fight everyday for their visions and dreams. Note: This course is offered for variable credit: Students who elect to also create choreographic research projects, and who meet the prerequisite of Intro to Choreographic Research, should register for 3 credits/TRF classes; students who do not elect to also create Choreographic Research projects should register for 2 credits/TR classes only. This upper-level course is restricted to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. *This LDAN course can be used to fulfill an Arts program LINA (InterArts) requirement.
