The PE of the Rise of Trump

Spring 2019

Taught By: Daniel Delavari Younessi

Section: A

CRN: 6929

Credits: 4

This course aims to place the rise of Trumpism, as well as some other right-wing movement across the globe, in a social and historical context. The course will begin with a brief primer on the methods of political economy and a thorough analysis of neoliberalism and the political characteristics of the last few decades. This framework will then be used to debate, analyze and discuss contemporary political and economic phenomena in a structured and analytical way. This course is intended to be an intermediate-level political economy course, as such, an introductory background in political economy would be preferred but not necessarily required.
