Mr. Keynes: A Primer

Fall 2020

Taught By: Daniyal Khan

Section: A

CRN: 8860

Credits: 4

The course provides an introductory overview of some of the central themes in the life and work of John Maynard Keynes, arguably the most significant economist of the twentieth century. Drawing on multiple disciplines – economics, economic history, history of economic thought, and biography – the course will, among other things, seek to understand the relationship between his life and his work. In the process, students will become acquainted with not just Keynes the economist, but also Keynes the philosopher, policy maker and essayist – a historic figure of interest beyond the field of economics whose life and work still speak to the questions and challenges of the early twenty-first century.
