Apply theory and technique to real-world problem solving in journalism design. This course is for students with established technical skills who wish to deepen and expand their understanding of the field. In addition to producing new work, we will emphasize analysis and critique of design in a journalistic context. We will examine challenges such as collaboration, prototyping, dynamic and responsive layouts, templating, and working with content management systems. A basic working knowledge of web coding (HTML/CSS) and print design software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) is expected. Journalism Design Tookit or equivalent, or permission of Instructor is a prerequisite for this course.
