This is a course about writers who use another text as a point of departure – a Greek tragedy, a photo album, a recipe, a mall catalogue, a science book. Students will be invited to analyze the creative devices the authors use and create their own book based on another text. The course will feature guest artists, including Lang alumni who work in the field of art history and book arts. Authors may include Ann Carson, Annie Ernaux, and Harry Crews. This course fulfills the Literature elective requirement in Literary Studies.
