Advanced Topics in Intergroup Relations
Eugene Lang College Lib Arts: Psychology
CRN: 15803
Credits: 4
In this class we will examine four distinct perspectives on the psychological processes that underlie human social groups. We will first examine both the processes that bind groups together—such as shared identities, rituals and values. We will then examine the processes which blind us to those outside of our group such as dehumanization and prejudice. In examining these two side of human social groups, we will paint an integrative portrait of the duality which defines human morality. * Prerequisite: One Lang fundamentals course, or ULEC 2160, Introduction to Psychology with a grade C or higher.
