This interdisciplinary course is designed to introduce students to the many facets of the climate system and the broad range of climate and ocean issues and impacts that affect society and ecosystems at global and local scales. Given the growing concern about global climate change, it is intended to provide a baseline understanding of: climate science; climate interactions and impacts with weather, people and ecosystems; and societal responses to climate vulnerability, including adaptation and resilience building. There are no prerequisites. This course counts towards electives in the Interdisciplinary Science, Global Studies, Food Studies, the Cultural Studies track of Culture and Media, and Environmental Studies majors.
