This course offers a cultural and linguistic journey through contemporary Brazilian culture, from Bossa Nova, the renowned music genre, and film and media, including Cinema Novo, to contemporary filmmaking practices. The course also embarks on analyzing the prominence and importance of Brazilian TV soap operas and social media pertaining to a wide-range of topics, including ethnicity, gender, and class. Although taught in English, the course introduces basic lessons on rudimentary Brazilian Portuguese (in English).
