Drawing from intersectional feminist, disability, critical race, and queer theories (from within and outside of psychology), this course will explore historical/contemporary theories and subjective experiences of gender and sexuality at the margins. We will grapple with notions of what is "appropriate" or “normal” expressions of gender and sexuality within the “psy-complex” as well as the resulting impact on LGB (lesbian, gay, bisexual), T/GNB (transgender and gender nonbinary), I (intersex), and Q (queer) communities. Students will be encouraged to critically examine the intersections of powerful social constructions such as race, ethnicity, ability, body size, reproductivity, age, and socioeconomic status
