Multi-Genre & Hybrid Workshop

Winter / January 2021

Taught By: John Reed

Section: A

CRN: 8997

Credits: 3

This literary arts workshop considers storytelling across genres and forms. During synchronous class sessions, students examine narrative structure in different contexts, and experiment using prompts designed to spark ideas in prose, script-writing, poetry, and nonfiction. Student submissions are workshopped in conversation together. Class guests broaden the discussion, bringing different creative approaches and demystifying publishing and distribution. Asynchronously, students contribute to an ongoing conversation that explores contemporary storytelling in text, media and the arts. Students can generate new ideas, or focus on something they're already working on. The course is ideal for writers, media people, artists and designers—anyone who employs storytelling in their creative output.
