This process driven experimental animation course explores animation principles through observation, movement, and play. Students will focus on observing and practicing animation mechanics by drawing inspiration from intense looking, observing from life, and reimagining how we pay attention. We’ll explore new ways of approaching animated work via drawing and stop motion animation based on our research. This class expands on the principles of animation and invites you to twist physics and break the rules. Assignments include weekly exercises, screenings, and the completion of a final project.
