Taught By: Tamar Ettun and Jody Wood

Section: A

CRN: 7616

This course is a survey of the various methods of accessing altered states of consciousness through interdisciplinary hands-on workshops, field trips, discussions, screenings, lectures, and readings. Students will explore accounts of Endogenous and Exogenous exposure to mystical realms and analyze artworks that result from these experiences. This course combines interdisciplinary material from psychology, metaphysics, movement, contemporary art, and the creative process to demonstrate heightened levels of consciousness and awareness of the permeability between our sensory perception and the external world around us. The process of making will be exercised by students as a means to understanding these states and student projects may take any form - music, writing, performance, painting, costume, clothing etc.
