Taught By: Tamar Ettun

Section: A

CRN: 7616

Credits: 3

In this course we will survey various methods of accessing altered states of consciousness and techniques for understanding and communicating this landscape through creative expression. Students will explore accounts of Endogenous and Exogenous exposure to the mystical realms and analyze artworks which are results of these experiences. The process of making will be exercised by students as a means to understanding these states. Students will create projects that utilize these spaces as a way to increase awareness of this world and others and compel them to be active positive members of their community. These projects may take any form - music, writing, performance, painting, costume, clothing etc. This course combines interdisciplinary material from anthropology, psychology, metaphysics, and the creative process.
