Digital Dev: TouchDesigner 2

Fall 2021

Taught By: Torin Blankensmith

Section: A

CRN: 12874

Credits: 3

This course will serve as a continuation of the principles and techniques taught in Digital Dev: TouchDesigner. Students will expand their conceptual and technical skills using TD as a tool for rapid prototyping, creative, critical, and aesthetic exploration and expression. We will use these skills to design and create immersive and interactive installations and environments leaning into works that were not possible in a remote setting. We’ll explore more advanced topics in real-time computer graphics, Python, networking, IoT sensors, shaders, projection mapping, and TD’s integrations with other software such as Ableton to create more advanced and responsive installations. Similarly this course will consider technical skills, methods and aesthetics in the context of various case studies that include large scale environments in medical settings for stress/burnout, for patients in clinical studies aiding in neuroscience research on brain recovery, and for commercial spaces.
