A Holistic User Experience
Parsons School of Design: Art, Media & Technology
CRN: 3042
Credits: 3
Experience designers now shoulder a great responsibility. Seemingly innocuous interactions can cause a ripple effect that extends far beyond a device or screen and into the real world, potentially affecting many people. How we think through problems and its solution is as important as the resulting output. The practice of User Experience (UX) attempts to address this through several processes that help define, create and build something with a desirable outcome. As new devices, apps and resulting social behavior permeate our lives we need to continually evolve our approaches to projects. This course will take a holistic look at current UX processes, how we can refine how it anticipates problems, present solutions and ultimately improve the world around us. We will research and collaborate to tackle a variety of projects both large and small using traditional and new techniques, tools and methodologies. Guest speakers will also be brought in to present past projects and describe how they were implemented and its resulting impact, for better or worse.
