In this online critical studio, students explore and define what it means to be a Visual Storyteller. Over the course of seven weeks, we will create two visual narratives by moving through the creative process of inspiration, experimentation, and making. With a focus on illustration, photo collage, and short film, students will generate narratives relevant to their personal experiences and share those stories in a culminating online exhibition. We will explore how artists combine the written word and digital elements to produce visual stories through weekly discussions, guest speakers, and assignments. Assignments are open to interpretation and can be executed with flexibility geared towards your major. By the end of this course, students will develop skills in the ideation process, constructing narrative arcs, and improvisation necessary to build a portfolio specific to their interests.
