During your first year at Parsons, you will learn, explore, and, perhaps most challenging of all, choose the major you will pursue for the remainder of your time at The New School. This course is ideal for those who are undeclared or considering changing their major. You will be asked to engage with all areas of study at Parsons, approach this information-gathering and decision-making process with an open mind, and consider how your passions can impact your professional path. Through interviews with peers, a panel with upperclassmen, and other activities, you will learn about Parsons’s twelve majors, develop various decision-making strategies to guide future academic planning, and critically consider potential pathways through the lens of your values, interests, and skills. This course will culminate in a creative representation of how your priorities as an artist, student, and person intersect with and impact your major decision-making process.
