Spring 2019

Taught By: Tea Alagic, Susan Cameron, and Lucy Thurber

Section: A

CRN: 1774

Credits: 3

This is a beginning class in collaboration: the art of working together in the theatre. How do the three disciplines come together to tell a story with a common vision? Where do the responsibilities of one discipline end and the next begin? How do you create an atmosphere of safety and play so that everyone is inspired to take risks? What constitutes true collaboration in the professional theatre? You’ll experience what each discipline feels like from the “inside,” and begin to see the collaborative process in its entirety. You’ll be introduced to some of the questions that each discipline asks of a piece and the language that each discipline uses when coming together to tell a story.

Students who wish to enroll in a graduate theater course at The New School for Drama must be accepted into the graduate theater program as a full-time student.
