This class is the first semester in a full year investigation into the director’s role in designing productions, the collaboration between the director and designers and production department and staff over the course of a production. The fall semester will focus on establishing vocabulary, inspiration and process for evolving, primarily, but not exclusively, scenic design. Directors will, also, begin the process of choosing their thesis production play, which will be produced in the fall of the 3rd year.

Students who wish to enroll in a graduate theater course at The New School for Drama must be accepted into the graduate theater program as a full-time student.
